We want vibrant individuals who are interested in working on a part-time, temporary basis with our students as a substitute teacher.

Substitute teachers must hold a current NMPED Substitute Teacher License or Teacher License. Information regarding this license may be obtained at the NMPED Licensure website. You will not be allowed to sub without the current teacher or substitute teacher license.

Substitutes are required to complete NMPED's Substitute Training and submit the certificate of completion to the Personnel Office prior to being added to the Substitute Teacher List.

Socorro Consolidated Schools values the contribution Substitute Teachers make to our District; to ensure a positive environment for staff and students SCS has set Substitute Teacher Expectations.

The following requirements must be fulfilled prior to working as a substitute teacher for Socorro Schools:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Must complete substitute training (2 hours)

• Must complete vector training (3 hours)

Submit to Central Office:

• Socorro Consolidated Schools Substitute Teacher Application

• Evidence of education completion and level (high school diploma/university transcripts)

• I-9

• W-4 Form

• Three Substitute Observation Forms signed by principals (Complete a minimum of three one-hour observations, one at each grade band-elementary, middle, and high school. Have the principal initial the form on the day of observation).

• Mandatory staff trainings

Submit to NM Public Education Department:

• NM Public Education Department Application for Substitute Teacher Licensure*

• Superintendent's Verification For Initial EA/Sub Licensure

• Background Check*
